These are just some of the many symptoms that women can face during this stage of life. Hormone changes during the perimenopause and menopause affect almost every organ in our bodies. Symptoms can last for years before and/or after your final menstrual period. Feeling like you’re “just not yourself” is common during this time. Every woman experiences this transition differently, many women feel overwhelmed, and what helps one woman may not help another.
SERVICES
Dr. Kerner delivers an integrative approach to women’s health, seeing you as a whole patient and listening and understanding your lived experience. You will not be dismissed because you are “too young” or because your symptoms are “not consistent” with perimenopause or menopause. With your preferences as the priority, let’s explore the treatment possibilities to help you feel better.
-
Research has shown that hormone therapy is generally quite safe and has many long-term health benefits for women if started within 7 - 10 years of menopause. It is the first line treatment for women with hot flashes & night sweats . It is also FDA approved for the treatment of genitourinary syndrome of menopause and prevention of osteoporosis.
-
Most likely! Even if you have been previously told that you should not take hormones, new research has shown that most women are candidates for some form of hormone therapy. Taking personal and family history, medications and lifestyle into account, we can explore the options that would be safe and effective for you.
-
Absolutely! Studies show that some women in perimenopause (which can last almost a decade) can benefit from hormone therapy. In addition, lifestyle modifications can guide you to optimal health so you can have an easier transition into menopause and into the future.

Yes, before your first appointment, surveys and forms are requested to gather necessary background information for our initial consultation. We will partner together and discuss health concerns and prioritize needs in order to create a customized treatment plan designed specifically for you.
-
No! We can discuss options for treatment regardless of your phase of life. The beauty of lifestyle medicine is that it is never too late to start. This practice is designed for women who know they are not feeling their best or would like to explore a new approach to their health.
